Josh Groban Plays The "Croon" Prince During His Stop In Toronto

Josh Groban wants to be taken seriously.
The problem? The crooner with the handsome face bears a striking resemblance to all those boy band clones from the 1990s, and it's made it that much harder for him to get taken seriously.
He complains many of his fans and his managers were obsessed for a time with one of his features in particular - his hair.
"When I first started, they wanted me to, you know, 'oh, look at the boy bands. Just cut it. Spike it. Buzz cut.' Like, no, please. Please, no! Now everybody's got the hair now, so."
Groban made the wise decision to let his music speak for him. And it's filled volumes.
The 25-year-old went on a blitz tour of Toronto Monday, promoting his latest album, "Awake".
He's been both amazed and gratified at the acceptance of his work, which is hardly hard rock and roll. "I'm glad that it has stayed about the music," he intones. "When people come up to me on the street, it's not like 'you're that guy! I want a picture!' They shake my hand and they say 'thank you for the music.'"
After selling 15 million CDs, Groban is glad his success means he now has more control over his own career.
"It's interesting ... .because you fight for it. When you've sold that many albums, everybody's much more protective. Everybody much more wants to feel like they have a hand on it."
"Awake" hits store November 7th.
And the hair? It's staying put.
